*Thank you LeapFrog Academy for partnering up with us on this post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.*
Now that the house is a little quiet around here during the weekdays, it’s time to focus on Millie and prepping her for kindergarten next year! She has been waiting for school for a long time, and it’s so cute to see how excited she gets when she tells people she’s “homeschooled” haha.
Joe and I went back and forth on keeping her home this year instead of enrolling her in preschool because we knew she gets bored easily, and I didn’t want her to feel left out. So, when we decided to try it out I wanted to find a fun way for Millie to learn since she won’t be in a classroom setting, I wanted her to have an enjoyable experience with learning. We were excited to sign her up for Leapfrog Academy, which is an interactive learning program for 3-6 year olds. When we first heard about an app-based and online program to help Millie learn from home it made me so happy that she would be able to incorporate screen time with learning. LeapFrog Academy covers curriculum for preschool through first grade and includes activities such as math, reading, and science along with problem-solving, creativity and social-emotional skills.
During the first week of her starting this program, we went slowly. Trying to get her used to using the mouse on the computer and showing her around the LeapFrog Academy app and website. The process of setting up the account was super simple, and I think Joe and I finished within 5 minutes. We picked settings specifically for her needs and Millie was even able to pick out her avatar – she was so excited to see all the characters she was able to choose from. Haha.
I think her favorite part of the Learning Adventures so far is that she has to move her avatar to the next level in her learning map and she can earn rewards by collecting marbles after every activity. LeapFrog Academy includes more than 1,000 eBooks, games, puzzles, videos, music, and art across a variety of Learning Adventures.
We are only one week into this program, and I can already see how much she genuinely enjoys doing her “homework.” I’m convinced she doesn’t even see it as learning, but just another game on the computer. Another fun fact about this platform is that you can download the app on any device and you don’t even need Wi-Fi for some of the activities! How cool, right? Millie is a huge fan, and it makes my mama heart so happy to see how excited she gets to learn.
