5 ways to make your home cozier & Big news!

I’m so excited about this new project that I am working on! I have wanted to do this for a long time, and with the amount of money and time I have to put into it, it has obviously been on the back burner. But, I’m finally getting the house I have always wanted. I’m redecorating my entire house, from the kitchen to our bedroom. We are switching up our whole look! Why haven’t I done this sooner? Well, because Joe and I have two separate taste when it comes to well. Pretty much anything. He is more of the traditional catalog type home, and I’m more of the old country style house.

I’m so excited he was finally on board to change it up in here. After all, I am the one that’s home all 24/7, 365 days of the year. To say the least, it’s been a long time coming, and if I have to stare at the ugly burgundy carpet in our living room one more day, I might go crazy.

With the help of my Interior Designer, AKA my Sister, who blogs over at Neon be. I am slowly but surely getting everything I have ever wanted in a home. From Light fixtures to curtains, to area rugs. I am putting together one cozy house because which stay at home mom isn’t obsessed with having a warm felt home? I have never been one to have much of a “vision” when it comes to decorating my home. I just don’t have it in me. So, I’m super thankful for Pinterest, instagram, and my sister that is helping my dreams come true. We have been pinning our life away and searching the in’s and outs of the adorable Etsy shops out there.

I was excited to share with you guys a few ideas I have in mind to making my house more of a home. This project won’t be overnight, but getting my foot in the door has been a huge step I’ve wanted to take for a long time.

Add green, lots of green!

I by no means have a green thumb, but adding a few plants to your home sure make your place feel a lot more comfortable than without plants. I have never taken care of a real life plant before, so I might just start off with fakey’s until I can get the hang of it.

Add an area rug to every room

There is something about having an area rug all around your house; It makes a difference in any room.

Add layers and Textures

Having a house with throws and different colored pillows can bring out the warmness in a home! So layer up, and always add throws and pillows to every chair or sofas you have.

Add knick knacks in empty places

My problem is, I assume you need a lot of money to decorate your house. Boy, was I wrong. You can find a lot of cute knick knacks from Thrift stores and yard sales, and add them to shelves, walls, counters, etc.

Add Curtains on every window

You would be surprised how much of a difference this can make, but even adding the most simple curtain can really make a home feel cozier.
